English as a Second Language (ESL)
COMPASS Score Guide
All ESL courses at Columbia College are college-level, college-credit courses.
ESL sections of Composition I and II and Basic Public Speaking meet the General
Education requirements for English Composition and Speech. ESL classes
are designed to parallel the Composition and Basic Public Speaking programs while
addressing the special needs of ESL students. To that end, classes are taught
by ESL specialists, have enrollment limits of 12 students, and require one hour
of tutoring in the Writing Center.
