SUZANNE BLUM-MALLEY
Suzanne presented her paper, "Reshaping Access in the Global/Technological Curriculum" on Friday, November 5th, at the MMLA convention in St.Louis. She is also currently serving as Chair of the Computer Research section, which means she will soon be trolling the halls, twisting arms (in a very friendly way) for paper proposals for the MMLA next year in Milwaukee.
SUZANNE BUFFAM
Suzanne has poems forthcoming in The Denver Quarterly and The Canary. Her first book, Past Imperfect, is now in the final stages of copy editing and will hit the stands the first week of April.
GARNETT KILBERG-COHEN
Garnett's short story, "Her Hair," was just accepted for the December issue of Blue Earth Review , published at Minnesota State University. Her paper proposal, "Changing Shape: The Short Story, New Forms and Functions," has been accepted for the CEA (COLLEGE ENGLISH ASSOCIATION) in Indianapolis in March. Also, she recently served as a reviewer for The Short Story and Its Writer , published by Bedford St. Martin's.
KILIAN MCCURRIE
Kilian attended NCTE's annual conference in Indianapolis in November and presented on using type theory to ask and answer questions about responding to student writers. He also attended the annual meetings of the Conference on English Education and the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning. Kilian will also be representing Columbia as a member of a NCA visiting accreditation team to a local high school.
TONY TRIGILIO
Tony was one of the featured readers in Kent, Oh on November 5 for a Bottom Dog Press book launch party for American Zen: A Gathering of Poets. The Wick Poetry Program and the Kent State Student Buddhist Group sponsored the program.
DAVID TRINIDAD
On November 19, David participated in the INTERLINK VISITING ARTIST PROGRAM at the Art Institute. During his two-day visit he met individually with writing and film students to discuss their work. He also gave a reading with Q+A, and was treated to lunch. David's interaction with our neighbors in the Loop was rewarding and productive.
David's poem, "A Regret" appears in the new issue of The Spoon River Poetry Review. This issue is guest-edited by Gabriel Gudding, and also contains a poem by our own ARIELLE GREENBERG. David also reports that ANNA MARIE CRAIGHEAD-KINTIS'S poem, "Either, Or" won a 2004 Illinois Arts Council Literary Award.
DOUGLAS REICHERT POWELL
Douglas recently presented his paper, "Subterranean Homesick Blues: Appalachian Landscapes and National Anxieties" at the Midwest MLA.
BRENDAN RILEY
Brendan's critical hypertext project, "Modularity and Monsters from the Deep," has just appeared in fall 2004 issue of RECONSTRUCTION .
