GEORGE BAILEY
George has received a faculty development award to pursue work on his novel.
ROSE BLOUIN
Rose's photography was exhibited recently at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. The exhibit, Hot Images for Cold Times, displayed small works using warm colors. This invitational exhibition featured the work two dozen African American artists working in a variety of media.
GARNETT KILBERG COHEN
Garnett will moderate the panel, "Regional Literature in the Classroom," at the College English Association Conference in March.
ARIELLE GREENBERG
Arielle will be part of new feature on the Academy of American Poets website (www.poets.org), a month-long forum of younger poets on debates, manifestoes and criticism. Arielle's essay, "A (Slightly Qualified) Defense of MFA Programs" was featured on January 6.
KILIAN MCCURRIE
Kilian will present as part of the workshop, "Assessing the Ineffable," during the annual meeting in March of College Conference on Composition and Communication.
MICHELLE SAYSET
Illinois Campus Compact awarded Michelle's Community Service Composition II: Writing Women Safe class a Raise Your Voice - A Month of Action Grant. Michelle and her students worked hard writing and revising their grant proposal and ultimately won a $300.00 grant to fund the Clothesline project, an entire month of events to raise awareness about violence against women.
TONY TRIGILIO
Tony was invited to be a founding member of the Beat Studies Association, an international organization committed to fostering scholarship on the writers and other artists affiliated with the Beat Generation. The organization's first panel and business meeting will take place at the American Literature Association conference this May. Also, Tony's poem "Special Prosecutor" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by RHINO magazine. Tony was one of the featured poets at a reading on Friday, February 4, at DvA Gallery, 2568 N. Lincoln Ave. (also featured will be Chris Green).
